National Able Network conducted the Retail Career Lab pilot to build the capacity of 18 centers to train and provide job placement assistance for individuals working in retail, logistics and manufacturing. The Retail Career Lab pilot curriculum includes four modules with three units well-coordinated around topic areas including: Opportunities in the Retail Industry; Customer Service, Sales, and Operations; Professional Standards; and Aligning Personal Development with Retail Career Pathways. Trainees and partner organizations are overwhelmingly positive about the value of the program. Both feel that Retail Career Lab provides an unprecedented opportunity to see behind the curtain in retail, learn new in-depth knowledge about customer service, and study how to think like a manager. Most reported that the program had completely changed their view of potential careers in retail and many said that they were now considering careers as retail managers.
