Durable skills, such as collaboration, problem solving, and communication, often make-or-break success on the job. How can we be sure an individual has the durable skills needed to succeed? Aren’t these skills too “squishy” to measure?
No! Through research and experimentation, Education Design Lab proposes four essential components to effectively validate durable skills.
(1) Definition – How are the skills defined?
(2) Method – What method of validation will be used? (Validation = Evidence + Evaluation)
(3) Level – At what level of proficiency must the skills be demonstrated?
(4) Context – In what context must the skills be demonstrated?
